Good Stuff Eatery

Restaurant: Good Stuff Eatery
Location: 303 Pennsylvania Ave SE, Washington, DC 20003
Date: 11/04/10
Burger: Farmhouse Cheese
Score: 18.1

Burger (10 pts): 6.3
Comments:The burger itself had good flavor, but nothing really stood out. It wasn't very juicy, and it was pretty small. More meat would have earned this burger a higher score.

"Nothing special. Not that thick and quite small. Also, not really the juicy burger expected to be rated as the #1 burger in DC." - Hamburg

Bun (3 pts): 0.8
Comments: The bun was your standard potato roll that you can buy anywhere. That's OK is you are at a backyard barbecue, but everyone expected a little better. It got soggy very quickly and was very messy when it came in contact with any sort of sauce.

"It was a potato roll that you buy at the grocery store and it fell apart. fail." - Shubert

Cheese (3 pts): 1.5
Comments: This cheese definitely earned it's 1.5 score. It wasn't bad and it was melted over the burger as it should be, but it was as if the cheese was just there. Meh. It got several comparisons to McDonalds cheese, which probably isn't a good thing.

"I can't discretely remember eating it. Must has been too well mashed into the other toppings." - Eide

"Flavorful. Reminded me of McDonalds." - Blank

Toppings (4 pts): 3.0
Comments:The burger same with their special sauce already on it, and there were about 8 other sauces to choose from which were all very good. Everyone tried a few different sauces and seemed to like them all. The burgers came with lettuce, tomato, onion, and pickel which were all crisp and fresh.

"A strong point with crisp produce and good sauce. The sauce is excellent with Sriracha mayo and Old Bay mayo being high points." - Silverman

Synergy (10 pts): 6.5
Comments: Good Stuff Eatery is a counter service burger joint ans it has exactly that atmosphere. The burgers are wrapped like you are at a fast food place and the meal comes in one of those red plastic containers. We ended up eating outside, because all the inside tables were full. Sidewalk seating was nice, but being bothered by a homeless man midway though the meal was an unwelcome interruption. Everyone agreed that the seasoned fries were pretty good.

"Not restaurant like, and we got to sit outside. Homeless man not cool though" - Day

Total (30 pts): 18.1
Comments: Overrated. Good Stuff Eatery is a well known burger place in DC and is owned by Chef Spike of Top Chef Chicago fame. All that extra Hype ended up resulting in a let down. The burger was good but too small. The bun was a potato roll that got soggy, and the cheese was forgettable. The sauce options saved the burger and got a thumbs up from everyone. Everyone seemed willing to come back to try one of the specialty burgers and give Good Stuff Eatery another chance.

"Overall, the burger could be a lot better. It didn't really meet the standards of DC's #1 burger. The burger was also very small and I was still hungry. Quite disappointing on the whole experience." - Hamburg

"Good burger, a little over-rated because the owner is famous. I would come back and try one of their specialty burgers." - Blank
